Hello amazing Out Fitness Community!
Reporting back here to share that yesterday, I finished the Pan Ohio Hope Ride
. It was an epic and incredible experience. It was physically and mentally challenging, but also deeply rewarding. The ride was very well organized, supported, and knowing I had an entire community alongside me made the really difficult moments possible.
As we were biking through Ohio, 339.2 miles to be exact, I also learned many other people’s ‘why’. It was grounding, inspiring and humbling to hear how people honor those they love and to be in community around that together. It also reminded me how important it is that more people see themselves in spaces like this. Movement, adventure, and these sorts of endurance events should feel welcoming and accessible to everyone.
Next up for me is the Tri CLE Sprint Triathlon, which means I now need to figure out open water swimming
As someone told me this past weekend, I have ‘adult onset swimming’ so if anyone has recommendations for a swim coach, favorite Lake Erie practice spots, or wants to join for a swim, it would be great to connect around that. Also if you’re doing Tri CLE too, let’s meet up!
After that there is Bike Cleveland’s Fundo on August 22. It’s a fully supported ride with 10, 30, and 60 mile options, marked routes, aid stations, and well supported with snack stops. I now know I can manage the 60 mile option, so I will be riding that one. I will do a few training rides prior to that and can let anyone interested know if anyone else wants company while biking.
Mostly, I’d just love to continue to connect with more Out Fitness community, looking forward to continuing to get outside, trying new things, and supporting each other!
